Introducing Zivid Motion – Deterministic Motion Planning for Reliable Robotic Manipulation
Zivid Motion delivers fast, predictable motion planning for advanced robotic automation.
Oslo, March 31th, 2026 - Zivid today announced Zivid Motion, a deterministic motion planning software solution designed to improve reliability, throughput, and scalability in robotic manipulation applications across warehouse and factory automation.
Zivid is known for its industrial 3D vision cameras, widely used in manufacturing and e-commerce automation systems worldwide. With the introduction of Zivid Motion, the company expands its platform beyond perception and into robotic motion planning, enabling a more integrated pipeline from 3D vision to robot execution.
Modern robotic automation increasingly operates in constrained and dynamic environments where reliability, predictability, and efficiency are essential. Zivid Motion addresses these requirements by computing optimized robot motion between two poses while ensuring the robot operates within:
- Robot kinematics and joint limits
- Self-collision avoidance
- Collision avoidance with the environment
- Controlled interaction with objects
- Shortest-path optimization
Zivid Motion updates collision models from CAD, meshes, and point clouds, and recomputes paths in real time.
“Zivid Motion has significantly improved both the speed and reliability of motion planning in our warehouse automation systems,” said Olivier Roulet-Dubonnet, Head of R&D at Solwr Robotics. “Planning now completes in under 100 milliseconds, while generating smoother paths and maintaining safe distances from obstacles. Ultimately, this enables us to increase picking throughput in production.”
“Reliable motion planning is the missing link between perception and production-ready automation,” said Øyvind Theie, VP of Product, Zivid. “With Zivid Motion, we deliver deterministic performance that enables customers to scale robotic manipulation with confidence.”
Zivid Motion is designed for industrial environments and runs on standard compute hardware without the need for high-cost infrastructure. The software operates on Linux systems using Intel® Core™ i5-class CPUs with optional NVIDIA GPU acceleration.
Zivid Motion integrates seamlessly with Zivid 3D cameras and is backed by commercial support, giving customers access to a unified vision-to-motion ecosystem designed for advanced robotic manipulation with predictable performance.
