On October 8-10, the Zivid team had the pleasure of attending VISION 2024 in Stuttgart. From catching up with our industry peers to showcasing demos with our partners, it was an event packed with innovation and excitement. If you couldn’t make it, don’t worry – here is a quick recap of the standout demos that featured Zivid’s cutting-edge 3D vision technology.
Joining us on our booth this year was Siemens, with their pick-anything demo of the SIMATIC Pick AI. They demonstrated their SIMATIC Pick AI solution, powered by the Zivid 2+ L110 camera. The setup focused on accurate piece-picking from a bin, even managing tricky objects like transparent bottles. The Zivid 2+ L110 delivered highly detailed 3D imaging of the bin, allowing the robot to precisely pick and place the items onto a conveyor. It was a perfect example of how AI-driven robotics and Zivid 3D vision can transform industrial automation. During the tradeshow, they also revealed that they would be introducing a new IPC to support the SIMATIC system. This new IPC BX-59A is GPU accelerated, bringing more powerful capabilities to the system and faster cycle times.
Our customer and partner, MVTec, showcased their impressive vision software integrated with the Zivid 2+ M60. This demo highlighted the ultra-precise capabilities of our 3D camera, which achieves an 80-micron point precision—ideal for applications handling small and/or detailed objects. Attendees were treated to a live demonstration of just how reliable the imaging is. MVTec’s integration truly showed how high-quality 3D data can elevate industrial performance. Using the Zivid camera, they were able to create a photo-realistic capture of the scene, remove the background, measure objects, and detect defects in one of the parts. This application goes to show how much you can accomplish with high-quality 3D +2D vision.
Pickit brought their A-game to VISION with a demo featuring their all-in-one robot guiding and picking solution. Powered by Zivid 3D vision, this demo seamlessly showed how Pickit’s software, combined with our 3D camera technology, can guide robots to pick complex objects as well as do object tracing with a secondary laser attachment. Each time the object was found and picked, it was dropped randomly, so the Pickit software had to relocate the part.
Finally, Compar delighted us with a high-speed picking demo featuring our old model, the Zivid One+ camera. In this setup, the robot rapidly picked different colored plastic balls, demonstrating speed and the versatility of our 3D vision technology, even in earlier models. It was great to see how the Zivid One+ continues to perform well in fast-paced environments, reinforcing its lasting value in the robotics world.
VISION Stuttgart 2024 was a great success, and we were thrilled to see how Zivid’s 3D vision technology is being applied in such diverse and innovative ways. From transparent object detection to high-speed color sorting, our cameras were at the heart of these automation solutions. A huge thanks to our partners Siemens, MVTec, Pickit, and Compar for their incredible demos.
