Oslo, November 4th, 2025 - Zivid announces the immediate availability of its latest 3D camera, the Zivid 3 XL250, built for depalletizing in warehousing, and large bin-picking in manufacturing. Building on the leading Zivid 2+ R Series platform, Zivid 3 takes performance and point cloud quality to even higher levels. By giving excellent point cloud coverage of almost any item in less than 500 milliseconds, it is ideal for mixed-SKU picking from pallets as tall as 2.5 meters.

The ideal fit for depalletizing applications

The Zivid 3 XL250 now complements the Zivid 2+ R series, bringing a complete range of 3D cameras to perfectly match the various requirements in warehousing and logistics applications. It has a long working distance of up to 4.5 meters with a FOV of 2.5 m², making it ideal for handling the global range of global pallet sizes. It also introduces a highly efficient and eye-safe blue laser light source. This enables the XL250 to deliver exceptional point clouds right down to the pallet’s base with consistently high results throughout. The blue laser offers outstanding ambient light suppression, ensuring reliable point clouds and 2D imaging in typical depalletization zones that are close to loading bay doors where temperature fluctuations and daylight are present.

Together with Zivid’s best-in-class vision pipeline, Zivid 3 XL250 unlocks the potential for robot cells that can comfortably tackle the hardest depalletization tasks.

Designed for tough real-world environments

Zivid 3 XL250 incorporates Zivid’s unique calibration stability system to ensure reliably accurate and complete point clouds regardless of environmental changes. Pallet processing is classically located close to truck loading bays and as such are exposed to significant temperature variations over a short period of time as loading bay doors are opened and closed. Zivid 3 offers unmatched calibration stability in these situations, even when experiencing double-digit temperature changes over a 30-minute period. Additionally, these loading bays are often exposed to direct ingress of daylight, generating strong contrast in scenes. Zivid’s ambient light suppression system ensures both 2D and 3D quality and completeness remain unaffected even with direct sunlight present.

Suited for large bin-picking in factories

The XL250 is also a great choice for manufacturing bin-picking customers who work with big bins. Additionally, Zivid 3 is a great choice for picking from large boxes and bins found in fashion and apparel warehousing. The large FOV covers even largest bin types typically found in factories and manufacturing sites. This 3D camera inherits all the breakthroughs made with the Zivid 2+ R series cameras, which have demonstrated themselves as best-in-class for point cloud quality, accuracy, and artifact suppression. Manufacturing customers can now benefit from the same correct, complete, and clean point clouds on even the most challenging shiny metal parts but on much larger bins and workspaces.

"This 3D camera perfectly complements our existing camera lineup. It brings significant innovation breakthroughs and maintains Zivid’s classic ease-of-use principles. We are fundamentally empowering the world of automated depalletization and item picking in warehousing and manufacturing with Zivid 3 and our other 3D cameras." said Øyvind Theie, VP Product, Zivid.

A complete 3D camera lineup for warehousing and manufacturing

With the introduction of the Zivid 3 XL250, Zivid now has a complete product lineup that all feature high-resolution 2D and 3D in a single camera. From working on intricate bin-picking tasks at 30 cm right through to depalletizing at up to 4.5 meters, Zivid has the right 3D camera for the job. Zivid 3 maintains all the highly robust industrial-grade build-quality and reliability that have made Zivid such a trusted name, and now Zivid offers customers complete coverage to perfectly match their needs.

“This 3D camera allows us to detect items within a few millimeters. We can handle items successfully without fail, pushing the boundary beyond 99.9% performance,” said Floris Gaisser, computer Vision Team Lead, Mujin.

Taking reliable performance beyond the 99% point

Zivid 3 XL250 has been proving itself out in the real world with a selected group of lead customers over recent months. They have been unanimous in their approval and praise of this XL addition to the Zivid 3D camera lineup. The consensus is that this latest Zivid 3D camera raises the bar for longer range robotic picking applications, and for depalletizing takes the success rate beyond the 99% point for trusted reliable performance.
